We strongly believe that consistency is needed in our pupils’ learning. We also think it is important that you as parents are able to support your pupils at home if necessary. This page shows a number of literacy programmes and websites that we use at school that you could use at home.
Darllen Co
Darllen Co is a Welsh language digital reading book platform for schools and families in Wales. We use this website to develop reading across the school. Each pupil has received login details, teachers will distribute books from time to time, but you can also read any book with your children or they can read them independently. The books have been divided into ages of learning years from Early Stage+ to Stage 6. Reading at home is vital but can be challenging at times, especially if you don't speak Welsh. We are here to help you. With our Parent Portal you will have access to many more resources to give you the confidence and support you deserve to support your child
Tric a Chlic
Tric a Chlic is a website and app focused on phonics, a method of teaching reading and spelling. This can help you support your child with the first steps to reading. Knowing how best to do this can be difficult especially considering that teaching methods may have changed quite a bit since you were in school!
Maybe you're completely new to a synthetic phonics program like Tric a Chlic! Don't worry. Here you can find ideas, guidance and resources to support you and your child at home.
Reading opens doors to a new world and new opportunities. We will succeed together
Welsh Reading
Welsh Reading for Parents is specifically designed to help non-Welsh speaking parents/carers engage with their children's reading work at home.
Designed by parents during lockdown and developed with teachers, its sole aim is to support and help parents and carers struggling to read the books and materials sent home with their children during the Foundation Phase at school.
Pori Drwy Stori
Pori Drwy Stori is an exciting bilingual programme, for children in Nursery and Reception classes in Wales, with the aim of developing their literacy, numeracy and speaking and listening skills to support Foundation Learning.
The programme provides resources for use in the classroom and at home, by encouraging parents to continue in their vital role as partners in their children's schooling. The Pori Drwy Stori programme is funded by the Welsh Government.
Oxford Owl
With a library of activities and resources for every stage of the learning journey, curated by the team at Oxford University Press, we're here with inspiration to help your little ones learn, grow and thrive at home, in the classroom and beyond.
Reading Eggs
Reading Eggs makes learning to read interesting and engaging for kids, with great online reading games and activities.
Children love the games, songs, golden eggs and other prizes which, along with feeling proud of their reading, motivate children to continue to explore and learn.
